- Build and maintain a variety of high-traffic WordPress sites
- Develop effective, maintainable code in a timely fashion
- Write and maintain custom plugins and themes
- Follow established coding standards and techniques, assist with establishing standards
- Work closely with internal stakeholders and outside development/design agencies to complete projects
- Work with online marketing and marketing science team to make sure the website functions properly for SEO and SEM as well as the proper display of data
- Conduct code reviews with peers, agencies and management
- Work with internal IT groups including operations and security to ensure compliance and successful delivery
- Work with project managers and teams to deliver with quality and adhere to timelines
- Provide user friendly site administration, documentation, and guidance to content contributors
- Provide guidance and recommendations with Wordpress Core, plugins, theme updates and bug fixes
- Assist in the configuration of websites using the various administrative toolsets
- Troubleshoot issues with existing supported sites
- Assist in the conversion of designs to WordPress templates
- Provide proper status notifications to business stakeholders
- Effectively communicate the feasibility of requested deliverables and timelines to the Manager and/or Sr. Manager.
- Utilize design patterns that comply with security policies and guidelines
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field required
- 4+ years of software development experience required
- 4+ years of experience with WordPress and PHP
- Front-end skills - HTML5/CSS3, JavaScript, JQuery, Other Javascript libraries, Bootstrap and Responsive Design
- Back-end skills - Experience building custom themes, plugins, widgets, WordPress filters, WordPress hooks and etc.
- Experience being a technical leader for junior staff preferred
- Version Control (GitHub, Subversion, etc.)
- Experience working with APIs
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Strong organization skills to manage multiple projects, timelines, and complete tasks quickly
- Ability to grow professionally in a highly flexible and fast-moving environment
